Activities and Clubs
Enrichment and enhancement are at the heart of a Big Life education. We support children to develop their talents, skills and interests, and to grow into fully rounded human beings through a wide range of extra-curricular activities.
Our Big Life Curriculum includes numerous opportunities for enhancement, including trips, visitors, drama, art, music, design and technology experiences.
Our “50 Big Things To Do Before I’m 12” passport introduces pupils to a wide range of cultural and life experiences , including climbing a mountain, making a meal, visiting a workplace, attending a classical concert, making a snowman, campaigning about something you care about and even helping with household chores.
Our lunch time clubs and after-school provision use staff skills and enthusiasm as well as external expertise to offer a range of performing arts, creative, artistic and music tuition opportunities. This has included art, drama, cookery, maths, music, games, sport, craft, gardening and eco-school clubs. Children enjoy opportunities to challenge themselves, develop teamwork and leadership skills, make friends and have fun.
As well as building a wide-ranging artistic and cultural curriculum enhancement offer, we support families to access the cultural richness that Manchester has to offer and have developed a range of whole family opportunities. These have included the Sports England Active Families Club where parents and children have fun and increase their fitness, the Save The Children Families Connect programme where parent and children learn fun maths and English games, and the City Stars Lifestyles project where Manchester City Football Club teach parents how to make delicious healthy food together.
Holiday Clubs
Our holiday clubs give children the chance to have fun and enjoy a wide range of activities in more depth, and have included themed arts and crafts weeks, sports and teambuilding, project work and cookery. We currently work in partnership with Manchester Active and Holiday Activity Fund (HAF) who fund the provision of Easter and Summer clubs.
